Onyx Law
The process

Four steps. No mystery.

Onyx Law is a case-screening and attorney-matching service. We don't litigate your case ourselves. This is what actually happens from the moment you call us to the moment a partner attorney starts working on your behalf.

01
15 minutes

You talk to a case specialist.

One phone call. A specialist confirms the contract type (lease, PPA, loan, cash), who installed, who financed, what you were promised at the door, and where you are on payments today.

They will ask you to read the first page of your contract aloud. That's usually enough to tell us if the complaint is going to be straightforward, contested, or out of our wheelhouse.

02
Same day

We match you to a partner attorney.

We don't handle cases in-house. Every qualified intake is matched to a partner law firm in our network whose practice is built around solar-contract disputes. Your case goes to the firm best equipped for your contract type, your installer, and your state.

You're told which firm before anything is signed. No bait-and-switch. The firm assigned is the firm that signs the engagement letter and represents you.

03
E-signed

You sign the retainer with the firm.

One flat fee on the engagement letter, payable to the partner firm, not to us. The scope, the deliverable, and the price are spelled out before you sign. You pay online. The engagement letter is dated the same day.

No hourly billing. No success fee. No surprise invoices three months in. If the firm needs to expand scope (rare), they call you and you decide.

04
Within 72 hours

The firm takes it from there.

The firm contacts the installer, the lender or lease holder, and the utility on your behalf. Demand letters, account holds, payment-pause requests where appropriate.

You stop fielding collection calls. You stop chasing paperwork. You get a weekly status update from a paralegal and a direct line to the attorney for anything that needs your decision.

In plain language

What we don't do.

We are not a law firm. Onyx Law LLC screens cases and matches homeowners to attorney partners who do the legal work. We do not give legal advice. We do not represent you. The partner firm you sign with does.

We are not a blind-referral mill. You're told which firm has your case, and you meet them, before anything is signed. The firm named on the engagement letter is the firm that actually represents you.

Our partner attorneys don't take contingency. If a firm promises you "no fee unless we win" on a solar contract dispute, ask what their definition of "win" is. Our partner attorneys charge a flat retainer and tell you up front what they'll deliver for it.

We don't pass through cases that look weak. If your contract probably isn't challengeable, you'll hear that on the qualifying call. We'd rather lose the intake than burn your money on a fight a partner attorney doesn't believe in.
